The highest density of bars and clubs is of course in the 1st district, the Innere Stadt, and the Ring, where you can stroll from bar to pub to club. There are also some well-known and large clubs in and around the Prater. Another hotspot with bars and clubs with a wide variety of music styles is the Stadtbahnbögen between the underground stations Thaliastrasse and Michelbeuern - AKH. You won't find any large discos here, but there are many bars with stages and performances by local music acts followed by DJ sets.

In summer, the Danube Canal around Schwedenplatz is a particularly popular meeting place for a relaxed get-together with friends. There are also several bars along the Danube Canal and the Viennese sit down on the canal wall to chat with friends.
